Product Description
ER70S-3 is a commonly used carbon steel solid wire for gas shielded arc welding. "ER" stands for welding wire, "70" means the minimum tensile strength of the deposited metal is 70ksi (about 485MPa), "S" means solid wire, and "3" is the specific model identification of the welding wire.
Chemical composition
Carbon (C): The content is generally between 0.06% - 0.15%. Carbon is one of
the elements that improve the strength of the weld, but too high a
carbon content will reduce the toughness and crack resistance of
the weld. The carbon content within this range helps to maintain
good toughness while ensuring a certain strength.
Manganese (Mn): Usually between 1.40% - 1.85%. Manganese plays a role in deoxidation and desulfurization, which can improve the strength and toughness of the weld and reduce the hot brittleness of the weld metal.
Silicon (Si): The content is about 0.80% - 1.15%. Silicon is an important deoxidizer that helps to increase the strength and hardness of the weld metal and improve the formation of the weld.
Sulfur (S) and phosphorus (P): They are harmful impurities and their content is strictly controlled. Sulfur usually does not exceed 0.03% and phosphorus does not exceed 0.035% to reduce the tendency of welds to crack.
