When you see an excavator effortlessly lifting tons of soil or precisely moving its bucket to a designated position, the key component behind these actions is the hydraulic system, with the hydraulic pump serving as its "heart." Simply put, a hydraulic pump functions much like the human heart, continuously "pumping" hydraulic oil to various actuators of the excavator, providing powerful support for the entire machine.
The working principle of a hydraulic pump is not overly complex. Through mechanical motion (typically the engine rotating the pump shaft), it creates volume changes within the pump chamber, resulting in oil suction and discharge. When the pump chamber's volume increases, a partial vacuum forms, drawing hydraulic oil from the tank. When the volume decreases, the oil is compressed, pressure rises, and the oil is then delivered into the hydraulic system. This cyclical suction and discharge process creates a continuous flow of hydraulic oil.
In excavators, hydraulic pumps play a vital role. Without them, even the most powerful engine couldn't transfer energy to working components like the bucket or boom.
